We spent 4 days in Positano, Italy and tried to do it all from small cafes to the down right fancy. Here is where we ate from Breakfast to Dinner. You might be surprised by the places we loved and the ones we didn't care for!
Everyone loves Casa e Bottega and for good reason. Situated in the center of town, it's easy to walk to and, well, simply darling. The restaurant focuses on healthy food which can be nice after eating way too much pasta and pizza. Their menu consists of items like muesli & yogurt bowls, eggs & veggies, salads, lattes, etc. but you can also get a cannoli if you're feeling adventurous. We stopped by for something refreshing after walking all morning. I had a mint & ginger detox tea. Matt might have had a glass of rosé...shhhh. ;)
In addition to the yummy food and drinks, they have a cute store - a perfect place to get a souvenir for the house.

FOOD: We didn't eat but many of you said it's great!
If you're looking for an All-American breakfast, Buca di Bacco la Pergola (pronounced booka dee bacho) has you covered. This was certainly the most touristy place we ate but when you want eggs and bacon, you want eggs and bacon. The location is ideal sitting right on Spiaggia Grande. We had plans to take the first boat to a beach club so this restaurant was convenient and I got that bacon. Plus, you get a view of the ocean while you eat.
COST: 8-12 Euro per plate

Caffè Positano is tucked below the main street across from Da Vincenzo. We heard rave reviews of Da Vincenzo but wanted to try something a little different so we took a risk. I was pleasantly surprised with this hole-in-the-wall type restaurant. We went downstairs and got a table on the terrace overlooking Spiaggia Grande. The food was fantastic. I had seafood risotto and Matt had octopus. My risotto was in a creamy red sauce and it was delicious!
COST: 12-25 Euro per plate
You might have heard of Chez Black so I apologize for the redundant information but it definitely lives up to the hype. Located on Spiaggia Grande it is very touristy but also a Positano tradition dating back to 1949, so go! Their menu ranges from pizza, to pasta, to seafood, to salad. Ladies (or gents!), order your pizza in the shape of a heart. It's not listed on the menu so you'll need to ask for it! The tiramisu was delightful, too.
COST: 10-20 Euro per plate
RESERVATIONS: Not necessary but I recommend it
A sister restaurant to one of the breakfast spots we ate at is Buca di Bacco Restaurant. Head upstairs but don't stop on the second floor. Go to the third floor! It's much quieter and the terrace has an excellent view of Spiaggia Grande. What we loved about this restaurant, other than the yummy food, was that when we asked the waiter to suggest a local bottle of wine (yes, at lunch. Don't judge) he recommended an inexpensive bottle at 20 Euro. No upselling and it was fantastic. We started with Octopus. Excellent. I had risotto again for my main course - I can't help myself! Again, it was delicious. Matt had a mixed seafood platter that he loved. Before the food arrived, the waiter brought by a wet rag to cleanse your hands. It's a nice touch for a place that isn't high end. Also, all allergens were listed on the menu like nuts, gluten, dairy, etc.

Now here's where things get a little fancy. It was suggested we stop by The Champagne & Oyster Bar at Le Sirenuse Hotel for a drink but we took it a step further and had dinner. I would NOT recommend this restaurant for dinner. Ok, let me break this down. Le Sirenuse is OMG for lack of a better explanation. It's so elegant and high-end. We felt out of place next to the table talking about their yachts. This hotel is known to be one of Positano's most luxurious and the price tag for dinner says just that. Before I get into dinner specifics, MOST DEFINITELY stop by The Champagne & Oyster Bar for a drink. It's quite an experience from the view to the people. You might even see a celebrity. Just know, the cheapest glass of champagne (which I certainly ordered) was Veuve Clicquot and it was 28 Euro...a flute! During dinner, we discovered a glass of Brunello di Montalcino was 18 Euro. That's a reasonable price and Brunello is molto bene!
Ok, so dinner. To be honest, it was mostly terrible. We started with oysters as that's the name of the restaurant and they were the saving grace of this meal. Matt said they were the best he's ever had. An order of six came with three different types of oysters. I can't remember the name of what I ordered as an entree but I was shocked when it came out and it was only 4 prawns. Matt ordered veal and it was practically a petrified breaded patty. So disappointing.
I say go for a glass of champagne and take in the scenery. It is a cool experience. The music is excellent (they had a DJ spinning EDM) and the views are stunning. The hotel is on the far East side of town so it can be a hike up hill if you're staying on the West side but worth the trek.
COST: 35 Euro and up
Alright, so our next dinner spot is also on the pricier end but it's one I highly recommend! Rada Restaurant is located at the end of Spiaggia Grande and has sweeping views of the beach and ocean. The food was great but what we loved even more was how incredible the staff was and we had a table overlooking the beach. All of these components made for a lovely and memorable evening. I had chicken cacciatore and Matt had lamb. Skip dessert because they will bring some mini treats anyway like macarons, ganache cookies, etc. The presentation was beautiful.

Last but not least, my FAVORITE meal in Positano. Now, this restaurant is a little further outside of city center but definitely worth the walk. This restaurant was by our hotel which was on the far West side of Positano. As I mentioned in the previous post about our hotel, I love staying at hotels that require a bit of a walk because you will end up finding and seeing things you would never have otherwise - plus they're usually cheaper! Ristorante Il Fornillo was quite the find. You're not going to go here for the view necessarily but you'll stay for the food. Oh YUM. I felt like it was family owned as it was the most authentic experience we had in Positano. There was an older woman, whom I presumed to be the owner, yelling at the kitchen. During dinner, multiple locals walked in and carried out pizza and a beer. To appeal to tourists, a band walked around the restaurant and played for guests with accordions and all. Now, I know that doesn't sound authentic, and like I said, they were appealing to tourists but the tourist in me couldn't help but like it. Positano, in general, is very touristy so it's hard to escape. We didn't have a reservation so we sat at a table along the side of the road. To get a good table on the terrace by the garden, make a reservation.
This restaurant had amazing food, a wonderful atmosphere and was moderately priced. We started with octopus and potatoes. I had the Taglioni con Gamberetti as my main. It was basically linguini with seafood in a red sauce. Amazing! Matt had lamb and loved it. Keep in mind, they do charge a 2 Euro per person fee just to eat there. Kinda strange but it didn't bother us. I would definitely visit again!
COST: 16-35 Euro
You can also try a cooking class! This tour is 3 hours and you will be picked up at your hotel in Positano. You'll take a shuttle to the village of Montepertuso where you'll cook a three course meal and enjoy it on the terrace with wine.
